INFORMATION

We are the Austrian Institute for the Development of Higher Education and Research and as such are registered at the Austrian Ministry of the Interior.

By official statutes our Institute is a no-profit but public benefit organization founded by idealistic academics for the purpose of supporting access and development of scientific higher education and research facilities for the less wealthier students. We are not a commercial business society but a no-profit R&D organization. Our research programs are long-term organized and we do not have day-by-day NSE/NSB activity! .

Our project VFF World Volcanoes has been developed by the Institute VFF since 2013 with the aim of creating an independent international network of researchers and students. A main focus lies on divulgation of video films created with the use of drones in various active volcano areas worldwide where scientific research missions are carried out.

Employing drones for filming of scientific documentaries has to take place in full compliance with laws ruling the use of RPAS - VTOL (UAV) systems i.e. FAA EU-Rpas-roadmap.

All VFF RPAS (UAV) systems have to be equipped with :

- Redundant Dual Flight Controllers + Dual GPS systems

- Parachute

- Dual Tracker GPS

- Dual Modem data link (waypoint)

- Dual BMS (battery management system) and dual redundant power unit control

- Ground stations control with dual modem data link system and Wifi emergency control systems

We underline that our Institute carries out design, development and sample building of high reliability RPAS VTOL RTF systems .

Flight controllers, ESC controllers, IMU & Special Sensors modules are also our design & development.
Outrunner Brushless Sensored Motors , BMU & GPS modules are makes of other companies ( among them a number of items are custom made for us) .

Our engineers of various branches like electronics, mechanics, aerodynamics , simulation systems & testing have selected a number of manufacturers of components, sub-assemblies and semi-finished parts for RPAS ( UAV ). The requirement is for the most reliable level of safety due to the already known risks that may be represented by flying remote controlled devices.

The video films created by our Institute VFF within this program framework will be divulged for free on the web exclusively on the platform VIMEO, where you can already find video tutorials created by our Institute (Link : VFF-VIDEO) .
Starting August 2015 our Institute will offer a free service specifically for digital film storage support on own servers ( not through clouds ) of scientific documentaries .
It will be available for schools, universities, research centers, teams of students and private researchers who will obtain access by registering an account in line with current legislation on personal information management.

Our Institute´s studies have started from examination of ancient documents issued by pioneer explorers of the fifteenth century who issued geographical maps of the known parts of the world. Further studies have focussed on the reasons which stimulated explorers to travel to unknown areas in order to study the “mystery of volcanoes” .

Today thanks to satellites and other technology the ancient pioneer spirit is only a memory of past times.

Many scientists and researchers are foussed on high tech equipments like portable computers and scientific instruments.

For this reason many research expeditions are simply limited to acquisition of samples which then are prepared for being analysed in special laboratories .

Video films made by such research teams are all very similar as they try to demonstrate the giant power and huge energy of volcanoes but not what hawks and other birds can see from above .

Only few people have heard and talked about the sound that the heart of every volcano emits . In every single lava stone and basalts we find on volcano summits and flanks there is a fragment of our history of Earth and Mankind.
We have to tell this in a different way to internet users who can participate on the web in our initiative which is unique in its kind.
